Dr. Kathy Guindon

Dr. Guindon will be joining us in May for the 1st Annual Bonefish and Permit Tagging Challenge. Her work in saltwater fishing research is extensive and we are looking forward to Dr. Guindon’s visit in May. Below is a little more about Dr. Kathy Guindon. . .

Kathy Guindon, Ph.D. has been in Florida for 17 years studying fish biology and ecology to include mangrove and seagrass fish communities and the life history of Florida pompano. Current work has her partnering with Bonefish & Tarpon Trust tagging permit. For the last 10 years, Kathy has been actively observing and researching Atlantic tarpon. Her most recent projects have focused on learning the effects of catch-and-release fishing on tarpon survival, movement, and stress responses using ultrasonic telemetry, genetics, and physiology. Dr. Guindon’s research and breadth of knowledge on tarpon life history and biology has been featured on various media outlets: The Sportsman Channel, Outdoor Channel, Discovery Channel, National Geographic TV, Mark Sosin’s Saltwater Journal, and the World Fishing Network; and in written media such as Guy Harvey Magazine, Tide Magazine, Florida Sportsman, The Tampa Tribune, St. Petersburg Times, and Miami Herald to name a few.
