BRL Fishing Report, February 2007

One eighty pound tarpon and two nice snook, one ten pounds were caught and released yesterday and permit and bonefish today by a single angler. These are resident fish, here all year round.

It?s almost that time of year again; just a few more days until the big migratory tarpon move into our area.

BIG TARPON means silver kings in the 80-150 pound class.

OUR AREA is the traditional Belize River Lodge fishing grounds, known world wide as one of the very best big tarpon fisheries in the world and includes the Belize River, nearby flats, mangrove cayes and channels. Now is the time to get out the 11 and 12 weight fly rods, or the 25 pound test spinning or casting gear. If you don?t already have these we have them for rent.

This is the prime time for those who want to catch the big silver kings. Will you be here? There are still some good spaces available for late February through July when the big migratory fish are here.

This is your chance to get that first big tarpon you have always dreamed of catching. Or like many returning guests, that second, or third big one. Besides the big tarpon you will also have many opportunities to catch bonefish, permit, snook, jacks, barracuda and snappers.

Lodge fishing gives you the option of fishing the flats, rivers, creeks and mangrove cayes and lagoons. Whether you choose to fish from the lodge or from our mother-ships CRISTINA and BLUE YONDER, you will never be more than a few minutes away from the big fish and a grand slam. Mother-ship fishing = less travel time, more fishing time, early, late or all day.

Belize is easy to get to; just over two hours flight time from Houston, Dallas, Miami, Atlanta and Charlotte.
Airlines: American, Continental, Delta, USAir, and TACA

The lodge is just a few minutes from the Belize international airport, so no small plane shuttles or deep sea crossings; and we meet you at the airport.
