BRL Fishing Report, November 13, 2005

Snook have been plentiful along the mangroves near the flats and as usual can be quite obstinate, living up to their reputation as being elusive and taking a fly when they are just good and ready. Accurate casting is usually rewarding.

Denise and Holly stopped in for a couple days, took in the sights of Belize City and Altun Ha Mayan site and fished a few of our flats. Holly landed her first snook on a fly and jumped her first tarpon along the edge of the mangroves near the flats of Belize River Lodge.

Paul and Collin had an excellent day of bonefishing and landed one baby permit on the flats. They also had great action up river for baby tarpon while enjoying the jungle river atmosphere of their “fishing eco tour”.

Charlie fished the flats 4 of 5 days, got 4 snook on flies, one permit, and missed landing the bones and tarpon.

Fishing half day on arrival yesterday Jeff got his first snook plus four more on a fly while fishing the nearby flats.

Well, the cold weather from North America is now acting as “hurricane repellant”, certainly a relief for the tropics. Hurricane season is soon over with calm flats and sunny days ahead.
