APRIL, MAY & JUNE 2008

FISHING REPORT & FISHING FORECAST

The big migratory tarpon are here again!  Just where we like them to be, almost in our front yard.

These 80-150 pound silver kings are cruising and feeding in many areas between the barrier reef and the bays just outside the mouth of the Belize River.

These big fish are being caught by fly fishing with 11 and 12 weight fly rods with floating or intermediate lines using the 4/0 ?chicken?, Black Death, Orange Grizzly, Cockroach or Red and White Tarpon flies.

Spin fishing with 20-25 pound test lines using Mirrolure 65M11, Yozuris, Rat-L-Traps, Rapallas and other lures with good hooks are also very productive.

These big fish will be here all through April, May, June and July along with the resident smaller tarpon, snook, bonefish, permit, jacks, snappers and barracudas.

Even though this is known as the big tarpon time, it is also a great time for all other species as well.  The flats are open and the skies clear, making it an ideal time for Permit.  As with all other months of the year, Bonefish, small Tarpon, Jacks, Snappers and Barracuda can keep you well occupied as they all offer a great fight.

There are many good spaces still available during this time period.  So if you want to get yourself at least one big tarpon this year and you have not yet booked with us, now is the time to give us a call or send an email, directly to us or through your favorite fishing agent.

We have for sale at BRL at competitive prices all the flies and lures that are working.  We also have the big gear for rent so you don?t need to go buy the big stuff if you don?t already have it.
