Long Caye Outpost (LCO) is a gem, sitting on the East side of the island overlooking Belize’s Barrier Reef offering spectacular views of the sparking blue-green waters of the Caribbean Sea. The entire caye is approximately 2 miles long. The Baymen were original, naming it Long Caye as it was a “long caye”.
Long Caye Outpost guesthouse has three air-conditioned bedrooms and one bathroom, so can house up to 6 people in your group. Due to the one-bathroom, Long Caye Outpost is booked by the group only – so whether your group is 2, 4 or 6 people, it is just you, your guides, staff (cook, housekeeper, maintenance person) and island caretaker at the Outpost.
In case it was missed, yes, Long Caye Outpost guesthouse was air-conditioned in 2025.
Your Long Caye Outpost staff help to make your stay the same as at BRL, with Belizean hospitality, excellent service and our delicious Belizean Creole cuisine in a beautiful idyllic scenery.
If you have fished with us before or if you know the area, you know that Long Caye is one of the best fishing areas in Belize with a wide variety of species available – Tarpon, Snook, Bonefish and Permit, along with Tripletail, Ladyfish, Jacks, Barracuda, and many others. This area is best known for “Grand Slams” or “Super Slams”. Tarpon and Snook fishing is on the back side of the island, about 5 minutes away. Some of the best Permit and Bonefish flats are out front and very close by. The Long Caye Channel and Miami Beach Flat are known for large Tarpon. Basically, all the fishing is right in your front or back yard, while still offering all the variety that Belize River Lodge is known for, Tarpon, Permit, Bonefish, Snook, Jacks, ‘Cudas, Snappers, Ladyfish and more.
Many guests in 2025 have enjoyed a “combo” visit – part of your time fishing from Belize River Lodge and part of the time fishing from Long Caye Outpost. Both can be geared toward touring as well for non-fishing family members.
The Outpost provides the perfect get-away-from-it-all vacation.
