TODAY'S FISHING REPORT

Wind forecast was for gusts up to 23 knots  .  .  .  but did not happen.
Craig and Robert each got a Grand Slam.
Guide John Irwin, on a busman’s holiday, got his permit today.

March and April this year produced some of the best fishing we have seen here in many years, especially for big tarpon and snook.  Fishing for other popular species, tripletail, ladyfish, jacks has also been very good.

Here are some recorded results of March and April to date:
19 Big Tarpon from 80 to 180 pounds landed, a lot more jumped.
Please note that the average on tarpon is 7 to 9 are jumped to one landed fish, in other words, for 19 landed, 133 to 171 were actually jumped.
That’s quite a bit of large tarpon!

17 Grand Slams

Best Bonefishing, 20 in less than two hours

Best permit fishing, 4 landed in one day

Dozens of tarpon 6-40 pounds landed, hundreds more jumped.

Snook 6-18 pounds, almost everyday

YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN HERE !

Despite a few days with winds 15-25 knots our guides were able to find gppd fishable areas where anglers were able to catch fish and stay very happy.  Sometimes these areas were in the lee of dense mangrove cayes or in mangrove channels.

The Belize River during this time was more popular than ever before producing an excellent supply of small and medium tarpon and all sizes of snook.  Howler monkeys nearby seemed to be jealously protesting.

Again we are so very fortunate to be located on the Belize River in Central Belize with easy access to both the sea and the river, so for BRL’s fishing guests bad weather or very windy conditions is never a blow out.

You too can still get your share of some great fishing as the big migratory tarpon will still be here for another three months.  All other species are here year round.

WORRIED ABOUT THE ECOMOMY? WHAT CAN YOU DO?
