RETURNING TO THE USA ~ CDC REQUIREMENTS

December 6, 2021 USA Update
At present, you will need a negative Rapid Antigen COVID-19 test within 24 hours of your return back to the USA. BRL will arrange with Belize Diagnostics to come out to BRL within the 24 hours of your departure from Belize, either right after breakfast or after fishing before appetizers to administer your COVID-19 test. Your results are ready before Belize Diagnostics leaves and the results are emailed. For our Canadian guests, PCR tests are also available.
For Rapid Antigen tests, Belize Diagnostics is paid US$75.00 per person, directly in cash.
For PCR tests, Belize Diagnostics is paid US$200.00 per person, directly in cash.

 

 

TRAVELLING AND ENTRY INTO BELIZE

Getting to Belize is easy and even with COVID, Belize has polices in place to make sure you, our guest, and Belizeans are safe during these trying times.

All travelers visiting Belize Must book a stay at an approved hotel/tourist accommodation (Gold Standard) and hotel or lodge must make arrangements for transportation to/from airport to hotel/lodge. No worries, BRL is an approved Gold Standard hotel and tour operator and we also transfer all guests to/from airport to the Lodge.

ALL travelers, both vaccinated and unvaccinated, entering Belize from other countries will be required to present a negative COVID-19 test.

All travelers entering Belize at the Philip Goldson International Airport (PGIA) will be required to present a Negative Covid-19 test.
(a) A PCR test taken within 96 hours prior to arrival in Belize
(b) An approved Antigen Rapid Test taken within 48 hours prior to arrival in Belize. Only approved, by Belize, antigen rapid tests are SD Biosensor; Surescreen; Sofia 2; Abbott Panbio; and Carestart.
– If no test is presented, a COVID-19 test will be administered at the airport for a fee of USD$50 per passenger.
– Children under the age of 5 years will not be required to present a negative test; but children 5 years and older will be required to present a negative test.
(c) December 6, 2021: Anyone who has travelled from Botswana, Eswaniti, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa or Zimbabwe shall be put into mandatory quarantine for a period of ten days at a government designated quarantine facility in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry responsible for health.
(d) All travelers entering Belize through Land and Sea Borders have other restrictions and protocols and will need to check before time of entry.

Note: We are required to point out that at any point if you test positive for Covid-19 while in Belize, you will be placed in mandatory quarantine for a minimum of 14 days at the your expense. It is therefore recommended that you obtain travel insurance prior to your trip to Belize.

When you arrive in Belize, if you are asked by Belize Immigration, you will be staying at Belize River Lodge, a Gold Standard Hotel.

Re: COVID-19 REQUIREMENTS WHILE IN BELIZE

During your Belizean visit, you must adhere to all health and safety protocols in Belize including
1. Wear your mask/face covering at all times (required by law)
2. Sanitize often
3. Maintain social distancing
4. Enjoy your trip!
*The protocols are subject to change as the situation evolves. All updates will be emailed as soon as possible.

Vaccination Card: Vaccination cards or a negative COVID test will be required to enter all public buildings. If moving around Belize, touring &/or other, you may be asked to show proof of vaccination or if not, than a recent negative COVID test.

Safe Corridor: According to the Belize Tourism Board, “The Safe Corridor provides for approved hotels and tour operators who have been trained to operate in this new environment to host international travellers.” Belize River Lodge has qualified as a “Gold Standard hotel and tour operator” within the Safe Corridor.

With the different COVID-19 Variants making waves worldwide, Belize tries to stay ahead and implements measures as needed. Below are measures in place which affect us and our guest.
1.  Definition of frontline workers are classified as health care workers; officers and staff of the Belize Police Department; personnel and staff of Coast Guard; personnel and staff of the Belize Defense Force; teachers; tourism workers; officers and staff of the Customs and Excise Department; officers and staff of the Department of Border Management and Immigration Services; the Judiciary and staff of the Judiciary; operators of public transportation; officers and staff of the Transport Department; officers of public utility services; employees of a BPO; officers and staff of the Department of Civil Aviation; employees of security companies; employees of the Belize Post Office; and any person that works or is employed at any port; they too will be required to present a negative PCR test every two weeks in the absence of vaccination
Please note: All BRL management, staff and guides are either fully vaccinated OR have one shot and are awaiting proper time for second vaccination shot.
2.  Every tour guide must present their vaccination card and have it readily available – BRL will have copies of each of our guides/captain’s vaccination cards.
3.  Belize is observing a curfew, which does not affect fishing time. The Lodge is private property, so you can move around the BRL property without issue. If someone wanted a night on the town, the hours of curfew need to be observed.
Sunday to Thursday: 11:00 pm to 4:00 am daily
Friday and Saturday: 12:00 am to 4:00 am daily
4.  Restaurants are opened for limited seating and vaccination card required for entry.

Belize River Lodge continues with our Gold Standard “boutique fishing lodge experience”- smaller groups to adhere to social distancing.
1. All BRL management, staff and guides have been trained for the new COVID-19 re-opening cleaning and sanitizing protocols and policy updates in order to keep you, our guest, and ourselves safe during the pandemic.
2. BRL will have a Manager/Supervisor on duty at all times who acts as a Health and safety officer.
3. Cleaning and Sanitization Protocols: BRL has always maintained an extremely high standard of cleanliness. With COVID19 and the BTB’s Gold Standard Certification, Belize River Lodge has enhanced our cleaning and sanitizing procedures throughout the Lodge. These standards apply to all vehicles, skiffs, as well as all guest areas.
4. One of BRL’s big changes for the re-opening: BRL will cater to smaller groups only
5. Belize River Lodge will also be spacing groups and turnovers in rooms 24 hours apart.
6. This is big for some anglers and not such a biggie for others, we had to remove all books, photo albums, magazines, anything of paper from rooms and common areas; so please bring your reading material. Marguerite says her Lodge looks bare!
